After appearances in the labels Polish Juke and assemblyline, hæra and distope are back with a collaborative LP on BAS titled light pollution. Combining distope’s academic sound design background with hæra’s abstract vision of footwork, light pollution is an unusual album of juke grooves pulsating under ambient textures and dubbed out samples. While strongly rooted in footwork music, the record mostly avoids the genre’s usual dancefloor associations and instead offers a minimalist, meditative experience more suited for an introspective listening session than the club. light pollution is also the first and only longplaying release from the label in 2020.
